The candleholder Valv works not only as a candleholder but also as a book stop or a place for your small sentimental objects to be displayed.
We have been inspired by architectural forms and wanted to highlight aesthetics and appearance as a function among many that a object can have.
By using simple recognisable shapes, the hope is that the object will be alluring and thus make you want to keep it for a long time.
Process
We wanted to use forms and elements that are recognizable to make the object more enticing and familiar. By using round shapes the object got almost an innocent expression. After many sketches, we started making mockups and prototypes with cardboard to perfect the proportions.
